ENJOY A COMMUNITY EVENT AND LEARN ABOUT LIFE ON A BEAVER POND!
The Sherborn Forest & Trail Association (SFTA) is bringing back a time‐honored Sherborn tradition – Conservation Connections: A Conscientious Cocktail Party.
On Friday, February 3rd at 6:30 PM SFTA will bring together music, hearty hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, a raffle of locally made products and a fascinating guest speaker, Brooks Mathewson. Take a break from the wearisome winter weather, socialize with friends and neighbors, and learn about life on a beaver pond.
SFTA hopes you were part of our sold out "Conservation Connections" event two years ago, our mid-winter town-wide Conscientious Cocktail Party at the Community Center. Almost 200 residents from Sherborn and surrounding towns enjoyed great food, music, a raffle with locally oriented prizes, and a terrific presentation about the New England landscape.
Our second bi-annual Conservation Connections will be held on Friday February 3, again featuring great food from Zaftigs Delicatessen, cash bar, Live jazz performed by John Clark playing clarinet/sax and Ross Petot on piano, raffle, and a fascinating presentation about the American Beaver by Brooks Mathewson. Take a break from the wearisome winter weather, socialize with friends and neighbors, and delight in Brooks’ stunning photography of this unusual, and sometimes controversial, keystone species and the dozens of others that are affected by the beaver’s unique impact on the landscape.
Brooks Mathewson has been photographing a beaver pond and surrounding upland forest in Central Massachusetts for more than 15 years. He is an award-winning nature photographer and ecologist, holding a Master’s Degree in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Biology, and a Master’s Degree in Forest Science from Harvard. To see examples of Brooks Mathewson's stunning photography, visit his website at: www.avianartimages.com.
Conservation Connections will be held at the Sherborn Community Center, 2 Sanger Street, beginning at 6:30. Tickets will be $20 in advance, $30 at the door, students and seniors half price. Please note that if the event sells out again, no tickets will be available at the door.
