NOTE: WE WILL NOT BE HOSTING A HUNTER PACE IN 2017 - LOOK FOR US IN 2018!

The Sherborn Forest and Trail Association's Hunter Pace tradition continues for 2016  It will be held on Sunday the 13th of November 2016 from 9am to 12 noon, starting at the Pine Hill School parking lot.

RESULTS POSTED BELOW. Photos posted here

A hunter pace is a marked trail ride covering, on average, eight miles of beautiful Sherborn trails. This course is usually ridden in teams of two or three riders and timed. The team with the time closest to the optimum (average) time wins. There is a hunting pace division for those wishing to move along quicker on the course, and there is hilltop division for those who prefer to go at a more leisurely pace. We also offer team prizes for those who feel like dressing up in whatever strikes their fancy, this years categories are: Most coordinated, Most seasonal, Most original.

The purpose of our hunter pace is to introduce riders to the beautiful trail systems Sherborn has to offer and to raise funds for the association. These funds are used to support the activities of the association. Some of the activities include trail maintenance, education, and assistance in purchasing and maintaining open space and access easements for all of us.

The association uses public lands much of the time, but through the very generous support of private landowners, some of the route passes over private land which is only open to riders for the day of the Event and makes the hunter pace very special. The parking of horse trailers can always make it a bit harder, so we strongly suggest entries to pre-enter to ensure space for the riders and their vehicles.

Our hunter pace is always very popular for its scenic trails and good food! Association members provide home baked goods, some of which have become traditional favorites, with a selection of warm drinks and great food.  We encourage all association members and all Sherborn citizens to come out and enjoy the day with us.

Hunter pace entry forms are available to download: 2016 Hunter Pace Entry Form & Liability Release Form PDF forms are attached below. You can also pay on line at: mkt.com/sfta  Please fill out both forms and send them back in to us electronically, by mail (at least by Nov. 1st - 1 week prior to the event), or bring the completed forms with you.  We appreciate knowing if you will be coming to better plan the details of the day for everyone. COMPLETING THE FORMS IN ADVANCE AND BRINGING THEM WITH YOU SAVES TIME AT REGISTRATION! :-)

The Trail Pace event is a marked trail covering about 8 miles of beautiful Sherborn trails. This course is intended to be completed in teams of two or three and timed, but you can go solo if you want to. The team with the time closest to the optimum (average) time wins. There is an extended option loop to add to the end for those who prefer to go for a longer ride.  We also offer a best matched team prize for those who feel like dressing up in whatever strikes their fancy. The purpose of our Trail Pace is to introduce riders to the beautiful trail systems Sherborn has to offer and to raise funds for the association. These funds are used to support the activities of the association. Some of the activities include trail maintenance and construction, education, and assistance in purchasing and maintaining open space trails.

The association tries to use public lands whenever possible, but through the generous support of private landowners, some of the route passes over private land which is only open to riders for the day and makes this event very special. The course can be started at any time between 12 noon and 3:30pm. We ask that you return the start area by 5pm for an official time.  We request that people pre-register so that we can track numbers and speed up the sign in process.

Our bicycle rides have been very popular for the fun and scenic trails.  We hope you can come join us on this event open to all abilities.  We encourage all association members and all Sherborn citizens to come out and enjoy the day with us.  The event will cost $10 for members in advance, $15 day of. For non members it is $25 in advance, $30 day of.  The non-member price will give you Individual Membership for the year, $10 more for a full Family Membership - on line you can select for a Family or Individual.

Landry's Bicycle shop will be on site at the start finish area at Farm Pond Parking area for some free help with any tune ups your bike may need. They will have a couple of parts available for repairs.  Bring the bike down for a check up before riding the trails, or after you complete the ride for the day. Last year they had a couple bikes for people to try out, including a nice Fat Bike to test.

Trail pace entry forms are available to download, you can also pay on-line at: mkt.com/sfta                             If possible please bring your completed forms for a faster check in.
