Trails Introduction |
While many miles of trails in Sherborn are on public lands, some trails cross private land and REQUIRE PERMISSION from landowners to use them. Landowners who allow the public to use their land for recreational purposes are protected by statute MGL, Chapter 21: Section 17C, the so-called Landowner’s Limited Liability Act. Trails on public lands in Sherborn are multi-use trails unless otherwise indicated, although motorized vehicles are prohibited. When using the trails, please be considerate, use common sense and follow the Trail “Rules of the Road.” Out of respect to private landowners, we do not publish a map of all trails in Sherborn. However, Sherborn Forest & Trail Association publishes “Sherborn Walks: Exploring Publicly Accessible Lands in Sherborn, Massachusetts” by Arthur Schnure. The booklet is available at Sherborn Town Offices or from SFTA at a cost of $15.00. Trails need maintenance. That is one of the functions of the Sherborn Forest & Trail Association. If you would like to help maintain trails or you would like to report trails that are in need of maintenance, please contact SFTA at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. They must be consulted before any work can be done in sensitive environmental areas. |
